Minimalist wedding invitations are having a moment — and the wording matters as much as the design. The whole point of minimalism is restraint: every word earns its place. Here's exactly what to write, section by section, with examples you can copy.
The 5 parts of a minimalist wedding invitation
- Host line — who is inviting. Traditional: "Together with their families." Modern: "Ava and Noah invite you to celebrate with them."
- Names — the hero of the card. First names only is the modern minimalist standard: AVA & NOAH.
- The request — one elegant line: "request the honour of your presence" (formal) or "invite you to celebrate their wedding" (relaxed).
- Details — date, time, venue. Spell it out: "Saturday, the nineteenth of June, two thousand twenty-seven, at four o'clock in the afternoon."
- Reception line — "Reception to follow" or "Dinner and dancing to follow."

What to leave out
Registry details, dress code paragraphs, and plus-one policies belong on your wedding website or a details card — not the invitation. Minimalism means the invitation does one job: names, date, place.
RSVP wording
Keep it to one line: "Kindly reply by May 1st" followed by a phone number, email, or wedding website. Digital RSVPs get 2–3x the response rate of mailed reply cards.
